INTRODUCTION to the National Treasure Webquest
In the movie National Treasure, a treasure hunter finds a secret map on the back of the Declaration of Independence and ends up finding a treasure for the whole world to enjoy. In this webquest, you will unravel clues to help you learn about some of the national Treasures of the United States of America.
Most of the Treasures you will be looking for are located in the Washingon, D.C. Area. Washington, D.C., is the heart of America and is a National Treasure on its own. A webquest is an activity that involves using the world wide web to locate information, visit sites, and find the answers to any number of questions. You will be asked to complete specific tasks and keep a note-taking form of information as you journey through the webquest. Sometimes you may need to print items to help you.
For this webquest, the class will be divided into teams. There will be tasks that must be completed as a group as well as work that can be divided up among the team members and completed independently. If you click on the "Evaluation" tab under the webquest page, you will find a rubric that tells you what you will be graded on.
Each team will be required to complete a Power Point presentation on their quest. A step-by-step tutorial on how to complete a Power Point is included in the webquest. We also have permission from our principal to view the movie National Treasure with a popcorn party at the completion of the webquest.
